If You Want to Find Joy, You Must First Find Thankfulness

“The very quality of your life, whether you love it or hate it, is based upon how thankful you are toward God. It is one’s attitude that determines whether life unfolds into a place of blessedness or wretchedness. Indeed, looking at the same rose bush, some people complain that the roses have thorns while others rejoice that some thorns come with roses. It all depends on your perspective. This is the only life you will have before you enter eternity. If you want to find joy, you must first find thankfulness. Indeed, the one who is thankful for even a little enjoys much. But the unappreciative soul is always miserable, always complaining. He lives outside the shelter of the Most High God.”  Francis Frangipane

Thankfulness Fills the Halls of Kidz World

November 15, 2017, lunch time came, and I watched in awe as the halls filled with parents and grandparents who took time out of their day to eat Thanksgiving lunch with their beloved child. The children’s faces just gleamed with pride. “This is my Momma,” I heard one sweet child beam, “Well, this is my Grandpa,” came the response of another grateful child. I stood looking around the room and listening to the excitement. It was wonderful. I asked many people today what they were thankful for and as I watched one smile after another grace the faces throughout the building, it was there that I determined what I was thankful for. I am thankful for all of the love in the world, the people who are involved in raising and loving the children. I’m thankful it takes a community to raise a child as that is a greater opportunity to share the love we have inside us every day.

As I moved about the room, I collected our visitor’s expressions of Thankfulness. It is here that I wish to share with you what our extended Kidz World family is thankful for on this Thanksgiving. As you read these, I hope you take stock of what is important in your life and are thankful for the things that really matter.

Family and friends are always one of the tops things people are thankful for and with good cause. Those sentiments were echoed today by Lei Canlas, Twilla Wilcox, Shania Lawrence, Hannah Sobdewski, Michelle Harpole, Robin Bassett, Timmy Givens, Shae Nunley, and Megan Littlepage.

“My family, church, and good health,” said Carolyn Blanford, Justus Weber, and Marleigh Honeycutt.

“We are thankful for our health and the ability to be together as a family,” said Lexi Martin.

Shelly Givens was thankful for, “family, pets, running water, electricity, heat, and freedom”.

“I am thankful to live in a free country and I’m thankful for the love of my Heavenly Father,” said Rachel McLachlan.

Toni Lingerfelt is thankful for, “every day God gives me on this Earth to help others”.

“Family and the arrival of my new grandbaby, and good health,” Alicia Canlas stated.

Ricky Hill has got thankfulness down pat, “to be able to be a blessing to someone else,” he said.

“I am thankful for my daughter and our family and to see what my daughter becomes in life,” said proud father, Chandler Brown.

Amber Schaudt is thankful for, “My growing family, friends, Auggie Doggie, and Elmo”.

“Just to be alive and spend time with Kenna, Kynlee, and Kyrin,” said happy Grandpa, Ernest Jones.

Rodney Parrish said he is thankful for, “EE, Daddy Bill, and Jaxon”.

“My amazing daughter,” Elizabeth Tutor exclaimed.

Lori Markham is thankful for, “Our friends, family, and our new home”.

Isn’t that beautiful? Family, friends, church, new homes, pets, helping others… Oh, there is so much in this world to be thankful for each and every day. As you gather around your Thanksgiving table this year, take a moment to look around into the eyes of those you are thankful to have in your life. Remember those who have come and gone and all of those who have been thankful for YOU. Thankfulness is so much more than a word, it’s a deep, sincere, soulful feeling that warms you from the inside out. It’s a feeling that deserves to be felt far more than merely one day a year. Give thanks every day for someone or something in your life.

We, here at Kidz World, are so very thankful for all of our children, parents, community partners, co-workers, friends, and family. We are thankful to God for allowing us to be a part of the community raising your child with you. We wish you a Happy and safe Thanksgiving!!
